For the Wednesday 11th September 2024 tramp Mike, David, Phil, and Izzy drove to the Waiohine Gorge to look for a track that might take us to Devil Creek. We were hoping to find a connection to the track coming down from the Waiohine Ridge track we have accessed from Mt Dick a couple of times. We found an old logging road which our map showed as having a branch heading from down to Devil Creek. Unfortunately even with GPS assistance and a bit of bush bashing we could not find any trace of this branch track. We followed the logging road further up and and found it continued beyond the point where the map showed it finishing, coming down and around onto itself not far from the road where we started. A pleasant 3 to 4 hour walk in fine weather.
